“Damocles” becomes Sleep Token’s third straight No. 1 on the U.K. Rock & Metal Singles chart and … More
In the span of just over half a decade, Sleep Token has evolved from a relatively unknown rock band to one of the hottest acts on the harder side of the genre. The outfit has been growing its fanbase rapidly with each full-length release, and the next one will be the biggest yet. On May 9, the band will drop Even in Arcadia, its fourth full-length, which is sure to propel it to new heights on rankings around the globe.
Three singles have already been pushed from the project, including “Damocles,” the most recent. The latest release from the upcoming collection debuts on several charts in the United Kingdom, helping the masked musicians maintain a winning streak that underscores just how hot Sleep Token is right now.
“Damocles” is an Instant No. 1 Hit
“Damocles” starts its time at No. 1 on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart, which ranks the bestselling individual tracks in those styles. The new single earns Sleep Token its third leader on the genre-specific list.
All three of those chart-toppers hail from Even in Arcadia. The trio of champions has reached the summit of the Rock & Metal tally back-to-back-to-back, with Sleep Token managing one new No. 1 per month since March.
The group first hit No. 1 in late March of this year with “Emergence.” Just a few weeks later, in mid-April, “Caramel” also spent a frame at the top. Now, on the chart dated May 8, “Damocles” joins those two cuts with its first turn on the throne.
Sleep Token’s History on the Rock Chart
Sleep Token has now scored six hits in total on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart throughout the years. Three tunes from its 2023 album Take Me Back to Eden reached the tally, but none managed to crack the top 10. The closest the band came was a No. 14 peak with “The Summoning.”
“Damocles” Breaks Into the Top 40
Beyond its genre-specific success, “Damocles” also debuts inside the top 40 on three other U.K.-based rankings. It opens at No. 25 on the Official Singles chart, which ranks the most consumed songs in the country. It lands in the same position on the Official Singles Downloads tally and appears one spot lower — No. 26 — on the Official Singles Sales roster. The tune narrowly misses entering the upper tier on the Official Streaming chart, where it launches as the No. 45 most-streamed cut in the U.K. at the moment.
