The third season of Apple TV+’s Emmy-nominated series Shrinking has arrived. With the supersized, one-hour premiere now streaming, how long do viewers have to wait for new episodes? Read on for the full release schedule, episode count and everything else to know.
Shrinking follows “a grieving therapist (Jason Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives … including his own,” per Apple TV’s official synopsis.
In addition to Segel, the series stars Harrison Ford, Christa Miller, Emmy Award nominee Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley. There are also quite a few exciting guest stars appearing in Season 3, including Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick, Cobie Smulders, Jeff Daniels and Michael J. Fox.
A major focal point in Season 3 is Ford’s character Paul’s battle with Parkinson’s disease. “He’s grieving. Oh my god, and he works the sh** out of that Parkinson’s,” Jessica Williams, who portrays Gaby, told Forbes Senior Contributor Jeff Conway. “He’s got to check on his symptoms and how he’s going to play it and how he’s going to play it respectfully.”
Shrinking co-creator Bill Lawrence has credited Fox with inspiring how the show approaches Parkinson’s disease. The Back to the Future star appears in Season 3 as Gerry, who, like Paul, also has Parkinson’s. The two characters meet at a doctor’s office in Episode 1, “My Bad.”
“I take great pride in pulling Mike out of retirement every few years,” Lawrence said in a recent interview USA Today, adding that Fox asked to be a part of Shrinking after becoming a fan of the show.
“Mike made the mistake of going, ‘Yo, but you’re a f—— jerk for not asking me to do it,’” Lawrence added. “Kind of a funny way to approach it. I’m like, ‘Oh, my goodness, you’d be interested in it?’ And he’s like, ‘Dude, I would love to do it.’ And so anytime he makes that mistake with me, he’s going to be back on television.”

Shrinking Season 3 premiered on Apple TV on Wednesday, Jan. 28. New episodes will air weekly on Wednesdays, though the streaming platform typically drops episodes at 9 p.m. ET the night before — so keep an eye out on Tuesday evenings as well.

Shrinking Season 3 will have 11 episodes, making it the longest season of the Apple TV+ comedy so far. (The first two seasons each had 10 episodes.) Also, the Season 3 premiere is nearly twice the length of a typical episode, with a runtime closer to an hour than the usual 30 to 40 minutes.
