Showtime Revives Netflix Comedy ‘Uncoupled’ For Season 2

Prior to merging with streamer Paramount+ as Paramount+ with Showtime, Showtime has announced the pick-up of a second season of the Netflix comedy Uncoupled. It was canceled by the streaming service last month.

Uncoupled features former How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris as a single gay man living in Manhattan and navigating the dating scene for the first time in 17 years after getting abruptly dumped by his long-term partner. The logline: As he adjusts to being single in his late 40s, he discovers that the gay dating environment has changed while he was in a relationship, and he rapidly realizes that in order to not be single forever, he must take action.

The cast of Uncoupled includes Tisha Campbell, Tuc Watkins, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks, and Marcia Gay Harden. It was created by Darren Star (Sex and the City, Emily in Paris) and Jeffrey Richman.

The news of the revival by Showtime comes shortly after the upcoming drama Ripley, starring Andrew Scott and based on Patricia Highsmith’s Tom Ripley novels, will now be streamed on Netflix instead of airing on Showtime. The pending arrival of Uncoupled on soon-t0-be Paramount+ with Showtime falls within the strategy for more “culturally diverse” programming.

Uncoupled is a co-production of MTV Entertainment Studios, Darren Star Productions, Jeffrey Richman Productions, and Jax Media.
