Seniesa Estrada Vs. Jazmin Gala Villarino: Odds, Records, Prediction

Seniesa Estrada can look toward Claressa Shields, Chantelle Cameron and Katie Taylor and can have aspirations of joining their ranks. Shields, Cameron and Taylor all hold undisputed championships. Estrada has just one of the world titles at strawweight. Her Saturday night fight vs. Jazmin GalaGALA
Villarino notwithstanding, Estrada has longer-term (and much bigger) goals. Here’s everything you need to know about Seniesa Estrada vs. Jazmin Gala Villarino, including the odds, their records and a prediction on who will win.

Here’s how Estrada unapologetically sees it.

“I believe I am the best fighter at minimumweight, light flyweight, and flyweight,” Estrada said. “My goal is to conquer all three divisions. I want to win all the belts at 105, then go to 108 and 112.”

That won’t be an easy accomplishment, even though Shields has become the undisputed champion at 160 and 154 pounds, Taylor has done it at 135, Jessica McCaskill has done it at 147, Cameron has done it at 140 and Franchon Crews-Dezurn has done it at 168.

Just taking over one weight class isn’t enough for Estrada, though. She wants to dominate three of them.

“If I can do that, I’ll be impressed,” Estrada told me last year. “Maybe there are other weight classes.”

It’s not going to happen anytime soon, though. Estrada hasn’t fought since last December, and even though she’s newly signed with Top Rank after a money dispute with her former promoter Golden Boy, her career, despite her impressive run in 2021, is currently stuck in neutral—at least temporarily. Villarino is basically a no-hope opponent, so it’s probably easy for Estrada to look ahead to what the future might hold.

“This is my first fight with Top Rank, and it’s the perfect time in women’s boxing to be with Top Rank and to fight on the ESPN platform,” Estrada said. “I’ve had a nearly 11-month layoff, and I felt like I was missing out on all the incredible things happening in the sport. I want to be the best and stay active. Now I’m happy to be back and hopefully go for those big unification fights that I’ve wanted and ultimately become an undisputed champion.”

Here’s more info on the Seniesa Estrada vs. Jazmin Gala Villarino showdown that U.S. viewers can watch on ESPN+ beginning at 11pm on Saturday (Estrada-Villarino is the co-feature to the Janibek Alimkhanuly vs. Denzel Bentley main event).

Seniesa Estrada vs. Jazmin Gala Villarino odds

Estrada is an enormous betting favorite at -3300, meaning you’d have to wager $3,300 to win $100. Clearly, there’s no value there. Villarino, meanwhile, is the +1100 underdog (win $1,100 on a $100 bet), so in order for that to have value to you, you’d have to believe that if these two fought 50 times, Villarino would win at least five times. I don’t buy that so I wouldn’t bet it.

The -163 odds on Estrada to win by stoppage isn’t a bad idea, and I could also get behind putting a wager on Estrada winning by stoppage between rounds 3-4 at +550 or between rounds 5-6 +450 (or bet just a little on both).

Seniesa Estrada vs. Jazmin Gala Villarino records

Though she’s had an inactive 2022, Estrada had a strong 2021, winning three fights, defending her 105-pound title twice and winning a 108-pound belt. She’s now 22-0 with 9 KOs, and she scored two impressive stoppages in her last four fights. She appears to be getting stronger and now actually shows one-punch power.

If you’ve never heard of Villarino, join the club. The native of Argentina has never fought in the U.S., and she’s also never fought anybody you’d know. With a record of 6-1-2 (1 KO), it’s not difficult to understand why Estrada is such a big betting favorite.

Seniesa Estrada vs. Jazmin Gala Villarino prediction

There’s absolutely no reason to give Villarino any kind of legitimate chance in this fight. The only question is how long it will take Estrada to dispatch her. I think Estrada will be aggressive and look to overwhelm Villarino in the first few rounds, and Estrada will make it an early evening. Say, Estrada by stoppage in the fourth round.
