Samsung the electronics megacorporation has launched a virtual flagship store in Decentraland. The virtual store is a replica of Samsung’s physical flagship store located in 837 Washington Street, Manhattan. According to Samsung, this is one of the largest virtual land takeovers by a brand on Decentraland.
Like other major brands across the industries, Samsung has been keen on progressing to the metaverse to leverage virtual interactivity and add more value to its consumer services. Due to Covid-19, the company’s physical stores have lost a significant amount of foot traffic, which has limited the brand’s consumer interaction. With this new virtual store in Decentraland, the company will aim to enhance its customer interaction in the metaverse.
Decentraland has also sored into popularity since late last year. After Facebook’s metaverse announcement, the platforms native token MANA rocketed to new heights, reaching an all-time high of $5.85 in November. Since then, MANA has also been hit by the ongoing bear market that’s been slamming Bitcion and altcoin prices.
How to access Samsung’s virtual shop in Decentraland?
To view Samsung’s metaverse shop, users must log in to the Decentraland platform and their avatar will automatically be sent outside the store, which is named “837x”. Once you enter the lobby, there will be a virtual guide to take you across the store.
The store itself has 3 different rooms: connection, customization, and sustainability. During the launch event today, a live virtual DJ and dance party was hosted in the store. There will be a connectivity theater in the connection room until 8th January. The theater will showcase the company’s latest news and updates from the Consumer Electronics Show. There is also a sustainability forest inside the store. The virtual forest has thousands of digital trees which will provide users with a unique and immersive experience.
Samsung has really pushed its metaverse strategy forward in the new year. Last week the company also announced that its upcoming Smart TVs will include NFT features. Samsung’s move to Decentraland will be for a limited time, but it will surely pave the way for other megacorporations to transition into the metaverse.
