Samsung Collabs with Decentraland, Opens its First Virtual Store

• Samsung is about to open its initial virtual store, Samsung 837X, in the metaverse, designed after its NYC flagship store.
• The tech mammoth makes a partnership with the digital universe platform Decentraland, based on the blockchain of Ethereum.
• This will be a limited time event, but Samsung expressed strategies to bring the concept to the latest platforms as well.

Samsung’s First Metaverse Store

The initial metaverse store will be opened by Samsung by the title of Samsung 837X. A mesmerizing universe designed after its flagship NYC store titled Samsung 837.

Samsung has made a partnership with Decentraland, which is a digital world based on the blockchain of Ethereum. The store’s opening will involve Samsung’s very first mixed reality dance party, where DJ Gamma Vibes will host the party live from the brick and mortar store of Samsung.

In order to attend the event, users are required to enter the virtual world of Decentraland via their personal computers before they trade any exclusive virtual assets such as wearables or land.

Just after entering the virtual world, the user’s avatar will be dropped in front of the digital Samsung store. Once the user enters the lobby, a digital guide will offer guidelines to the avatar to decide upon three choices: Connectivity, Sustainability, and Customization.

Connectivity Theatre is the concept where Consumer Electronics Show’s news, which will be running from 5th to 8th January, will be released. Sustainability Forest is the concept where the users will be able to know regarding the Samsung’s and Veritree partnership. Veritree is a platform providing solutions for the climate and plans to plant 2 million trees by Q1 of the year. And finally, Customization is the concept where the party will take place.

As per Samsung’s Corporate Sustainability Head, Mark Newton, Samsung is all prepared to work with Eden Reforestation Project’s field experts as well as the members of the community, for plating the trees, that will most probably restore around 200 hectares of land as well as sequester around a billion pounds of carbon dioxide across the span of 25 years.

Samsung’s digital store in the Decentraland will contain quests, leading to the 837X NFT badges and wearables available for a limited period of time.

Samsung 837X, one of the most prominent digital land takeovers in the Decentraland, will remain live for a limited time period only. But the technology mammoth is planning to take the concept to more users by releasing it on the latest platforms.

Samsung’s SVP of corporate communication and marketing, Michelle Crossan-Matos, stated that the metaverse allows the users to go beyond spatial and tangible barriers to create distinct digital experiences that are not possible otherwise. SVP also added that innovation is in their DNA.

Samsung appears to be in a robust position in the virtual asset space. The organization had also made an announcement of the smart TVs that will support the trade of NFTs via an integrated platform built in the TV.
