Rumors Swirl Around Pump.fun Token Launch After Gate Exchange Leak

Speculation around a potential token launch from Solana’s top meme coin platform, Pump.fun, has surged after crypto exchange Gate briefly posted—and then removed—details of a public sale for a PUMP token.

According to the now-deleted page, the sale was expected to begin on July 12 and would have offered 150 billion PUMP tokens at $0.004 each, valuing the offering at $600 million and giving the token a $4 billion fully diluted valuation. The listing suggested no purchase cap per user, only a minimum buy-in, with a first-come, first-served format and a window of up to 72 hours.

Neither Pump.fun nor Gate have confirmed the sale, and both have remained silent following the listing’s removal. The project previously downplayed expectations of a native token. Back in April, co-founder Alon Cohen stated that neither he nor the platform had plans to issue one.

Still, anticipation remains high. Pump.fun has been a central player in Solana’s meme coin boom since early 2024, powering the launch of viral tokens like FARTCOIN and PNUT. However, it’s recently faced new competition from LetsBonk—BONK’s own launchpad—which just surpassed Pump.fun in daily token creation for the first time.

If a PUMP token does launch, many believe it could include an airdrop for longtime users, potentially rewarding those who’ve contributed to its meteoric rise. For now, all eyes are on July 12 to see whether the rumors materialize into reality.
