Seven and a half years after their last live performance, the iconic The Allman Brothers Band is rambling into a new venture—cannabis. The classic rock band has teamed up with Verilife to launch a new line of cannabis products. Called “Chocolate Chunk,” the line debuted last Saturday in eight Verilife’s Illinois dispensaries.
On this new partnership, Verilife’s Chief Marketing Officer Erika Salgado expressed considerable excitement.
“The Allman Brothers Band pioneered the Southern rock sound that is synonymous with cannabis,” said Salgado in a public statement. “With this collaboration, our goal is to create cannabis products that capture the essence of the band.”
Salgado’s enthusiastic sentiments were roundly echoed by Jaimoe, a founding member and drummer of the Allman Brothers Band.
“It has been the honor of my life to play in this band and it continues to be an honor to extend our brand in ways my bandmates could never have imagined,” said Jaimoe. “This collaboration with Verilife is an opportunity to share the Allman Brothers Band experience with fans.”
Launching with flower and pre-rolls, this new product line will eventually include edibles and vapes, according to a news release.
Formed in 1969, the Allman Brothers Band are one of the most popular live bands in American rock music history. In 1995, they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The group played its last live performance October 28, 2014, at New York’s Beacon Theatre.
Verilife is operated by PharmaCann Inc., one of the country’s largest, vertically integrated cannabis companies.
