D.H. Peligro — Drummer for the legendary punk band Dead Kennedys reportedly died at his home in Los Angeles on Friday morning. The Drummer was 63 years old and spent most of his musical career playing for the iconic punk group. Earlier today the news broke as the band posted the following statement:

“Dead Kennedys’ drummer D.H. Peligro (Darren Henley) passed away in his Los Angeles home yesterday, October 28th. Police on the scene stated that he died from trauma to the head caused by an accidental fall. Arrangements are pending and will be announced in the coming days. We ask that you respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time. Thank you for your thoughts and words of comfort.”

As the band states, Peligro died from an accidental fall in his home which lead to fatal head trauma. No other information has been revealed to the public at this time.

As an instrumentalist in Dead Kennedys and moreover the backbone of the band’s rhythm section, Peligro’s musicianship was acknowledged as one of the highest in the punk genre. Having joined the band in 1981, Peligro put his footprint on a number of the band’s recordings including their EP In God We Trust, and their three LPs Plastic Surgery Disasters, Frankenchrist and Bedtime for Democracy.

Following Dead Kennedys break-up in 1986, Peligro went on to joining The Red Hot Chili Peppers as their drummer, and he even helped with the writing process on the band’s fourth studio album Mother’s Milk. Peligro would later be fired from The Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1988, but he went on to perform with various other rock and metal bands like Lock-Up, SSI, and even Max Cavalera’s short lived side project Nailbomb.

Peligrio would later rejoin Dead Kennedys for their reunion in 2001 and he had remained an active member in the group ever since.
