Release Date, Japanese Theme, Points Of Interest And More

Activision has revealed the new small map headed to Warzone 2.0 in Season 2. Ashika Island is the first new Resurgence map since Fortune’s Keep released for the original Warzone. It will be the first time Resurgence mode is available in the new Call Of Duty battle royale.

Resurgence mode differs from traditional battle royale in one important way: Players respawn after dying so long as one member of their squad remains alive (until Resurgence is turned off during the end-game). This leads to a very different, faster-paced playstyle that’s a lot of fun and a welcome break from longer battle royale matches, where you always run the risk of dying and then spectating for the next fifteen or twenty minutes.

Ashika Island was developed by High Moon Studios, the developer behind Fortune’s Keep, which was an excellent Resurgence map in Warzone, and the second small map to come to that game after Rebirth Island, which originally made its debut in Blackout, the battle royale that released with Black Ops IIII.

Ashika Island looks closer in size to Rebirth Island, though it is reminiscent of Fortune’s Keep in other ways, including more residential areas and buildings. This time around, the map is set in a fictional Japanese location and includes the Castle POI taken directly from the Modern Warfare 2 map, Castle (last seen in Call Of Duty: Vanguard).

Points Of Interest

Tsuki Castle

As you can see in the above image, this is not a European Medieval castle, but rather a Japanese fortress. I’m really excited for this map not just because I miss playing Resurgence, but because I think the Japanese theme is such a cool addition to the game. Al Mazrah is a fine map, but it’s awfully brown and dull. A colorful map in a setting we haven’t had yet in Warzone is very welcome.

Town Center

Beach Club

Underground Waterway

The Call Of Duty Twitter account has been dropping these images along with haikus. For that last image of Underground Waterway they posted:

Deep below the Earth

Long tendrils branching outward

Warmth knows no home here

For the Beach Club:

Not a vacation

Don’t let cabanas deceive

Grab sand, take cover

For Town Center:

Long range or up close

Through the market’s many stalls

Find the next shootout

For Tsuki Castle:

Infiltrate quickly

Past the tower’s defenders

Reach the hidden space

The full list of POI’s on Ashika Island includes:

  • Residential
  • Shipwreck
  • Tsuki Castle
  • Port Ashika
  • Town Center
  • Oganikku Farms
  • Beach Club

The map is identical to the leaked Warzone 2 Resurgence map from last month, though not all the POI’s are the same. Ashika Island launches with Season 2 of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 on February 15th—not a moment too soon!
