Raid 2: Box office report
Raid 2 made an opening collection of $2.3 million in India on Thursday, its first day at the box office. With a global gross opening collection of $3 million, Raid 2 stands below Sikandar and Chhaava on the list of highest-opening Hindi films of 2025. The film is the biggest opening one for Riteish Deshmukh, and second-highest opener for Vaani Kapoor.
On its second day, the film scored $1.6 million in India, making a two-day total of nearly $4 million in Indian markets alone. Adding another $2.2 million on Saturday and nearly $3 million on Sunday, Raid 2 closed its first weekend in India at $8 million.
Globally, Raid 2 crossed $6 million in three days at the ticket windows. By the end of its first extended weekend, the film crossed $10 million-mark worldwide. It recorded $8.3 million collections worldwide on Friday, Saturday and Sunday alone; making it as ninth-highest grossing film for the week worldwide. Raid 2 also ranked among Comscore’s list of top-earning films in the US markets for the week ending May 4.
Raid 2 earned $620,000 over the weekend in the US markets and ranked on Comscore’s list of top-scoring films over the weekend ending May 4 along with two other Indian movies. Nani and Srinidhi Shetty’s Telugu film Hit: The Third Case earned $870,000 in the US markets and the Punjabi film Guru Nanak Jahaz also scored $670,000 over the weekend.
Raid 2
When Gupta created the world of an honest income tax officer, his Amay Patnaik (Devgn) was the incorruptible, slipper-wearing government officer who bore the brunt of his own honesty. Patnaik raided a corrupt feudal lord-politician in the original film only to be pushed a few steps back because of the politician’s power. In the new one, too, he takes on a corrupt politician riding high on the power of people’s love.
Raid 2 lacks the depth of side characters and the gripping narrative that the first film offered right from the word go. The film hypes up Devgn’s stardom and pins all hopes on his fan-following.
Nonetheless, Raid 2 does not disappoint. While the first half of the film drags quite a bit with predictable and pre-set character arcs, the filmmaker introduces some priceless gems in the second half and manages to offer better engagement post half-time. Raid 2 becomes a fun-filled adventure peppered generously with the style statements of the antagonist (Deshmukh) and the protagonist (Devgn). The brilliance of Amit Sial and Yashpal Sharma’s comic characters pulls Raid 2 several notches above the average film it otherwise appears to be.
The beauty of the film lies in not just Devgn and Deshmukh displaying larger-than-life swag and persona, but the way Sial and Sharma manage to bend the flow of the narrative with their presence. Supriya Pathak deserves a special mention for playing her crucial part of Deshmukh’s mother.
