Prince Harry Will Attend King Charles’ Coronation—But Meghan And The Children Will Skip

Topline

Prince Harry will attend the Coronation of his father, King Charles III, next month, Buckingham Palace announced Wednesday morning, and he will be attending without his wife, Meghan Markle, as tensions between Harry and the British Royal Family continue to escalate.

Key Facts

Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will remain in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, while Harry attends the coronation on May 6, following Queen Elizabeth II’s death last September after more than 70 years on the throne.

Harry, the son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana, has been drifting apart from the family, announcing in 2020 he and his wife would step back as “senior members” of the Royal Family, and relocate to the U.S.—though he had attended the funeral procession for Queen Elizabeth.

The announcement Wednesday comes three months after the highly anticipated release of his tell-all book, Spare, which sold 1.43 million copies on its first day, breaking the Guinness record for fastest-selling nonfiction nonfiction of all time.

This is a developing story.
