Post Malone makes history with his latest string of wins, as he collects several new major awards from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
Three of Malone’s biggest hit singles–“Circles,” “Better Now,” and “I Fall Apart”–have all hit 10-times platinum status, otherwise known as diamond. A tune is certified diamond once it moved 10 million certified units in the U.S., mixing sales with streaming consumption data.
While seeing a song hit diamond status remains a career highlight for most artists, Malone has been here before–several times in fact. Eight of his songs have reached this milestone, and his collection of diamond-certified cuts now includes all of the following tracks: “Better Now,” “Circles,” Congratulations (feat. Quavo),” “I Fall Apart,” “Psycho (feat. Ty Dolla $ign),” “Rockstar (feat. 21 Savage),” “Sunflower (with Swae Lee),” and “White Iverson.”
With three newly certified records, Post Malone establishes a new mark for the most RIAA diamond-certified singles from any artist, with eight. Before today, he was tied with Bruno Mars, who is steady with six such smashes.
As if earning a trio of new diamond singles wasn’t enough for one day, Malone also sees his No. 1 hit “Sunflower” with Swae Lee move up to 17-times platinum status, with several million more equivalent units moved. That means it’s tied for the record of being the highest-certified cut ever.
Malone has also collected quite a few new platinum plaques on singles that still have a long way to go before reaching diamond. His song “Ball For Me” with Nicki Minaj jumps to triple platinum, “Over Now” and “92 Explorer” are now double platinum, while “Yours Truly, Austin Post” and “Leave” hit platinum status for the first time.
To celebrate his latest feats, Malone and Republic Records have announced The Diamond Collection, a hits compilation carrying all his diamond-certified singles, plus his latest release, the pop-leaning “Chemical.” The Diamond Collection is slated to drop on April 21, spanning nine tracks.
