Eddington, A COVID-era drama from filmmaker Ari Aster starring Pedro Pascal, Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone, is coming soon to streaming on HBO Max.
Written and directed by Aster, Eddington opened in theaters on July 18 and debuted on digital streaming on Aug. 12. The official logline for Eddington reads, “In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff (Phoenix) and mayor (Pascal) sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico.”
Rated R, Eddington also stars Luke Grimes, Deidre O’Connell, Michael Ward and Austin Butler.
HBO Max announced on Tuesday that Eddington will arrive on streaming on HBO Max on Friday, Nov. 14 and on cable on HBO linear on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 8 a.m. ET.
For viewers who don’t subscribe to HBO Max, the platform offers an ad-based tier that costs $10.99 per month or $109.99 per year, an ad-free tier that $18.49 per month or $184.99 per $184.99.
In additon, HBO Max offers an ad-free tier with 4K Ultra HD programming that costs $22.99 per month or $229.99.
The subscription prices reflect the cost increases announced by HBO Max (via Variety) on Tuesday.
How Did ‘Eddington’ Perform In Theaters?
Eddington earned $4.4 million from 2,111 theaters during its opening weekend July 18-20. The film officially ended its domestic box office run on Aug. 14 with $10.1 million in ticket sales. Combined with the film’s international take of $2.7 million, the film made $12.8 million worldwide.
Eddington had a net production budget of $25 million after New Mexico tax credits, not including prints and advertising costs, according to Deadline.
Eddington marks writer-director Ari Aster’s third big-screen release, following the horror thrillers Hereditary in 2018 and Midsommar in 2019.
Hereditary earned $80 million worldwide against a production cost of $10 million before P&A, while Midsommar made $46.7 million worldwide against a $9 million production budget before P&A.
