the additional season previously being discussed, Mundo Deportivo has reported.

Messi signed for the Parisians in the summer of 2021, when walking from boyhood club FC Barcelona on a free transfer as the Catalans could not navigate a strict La Liga salary cap.

L’Equipe reported at the time that the Argentine had put pen to paper on a two-year deal that paid him €30 million ($32.6 million) per season and came with the option of an additional term at the Parc des Princes.

Messi is stalling on putting pen to paper, and the same French sports outlet reported this week that there is “growing pessimism” he will do so because of the need to balance Financial Fair Play.
