Just three episodes after premiering and streaming service Paramount+ has renewed the Sylvester Stallone drama Tulsa King for a second season. From Taylor Sheridan and showrunner Terence Winter. Tulsa King stars Stallone as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a mafioso who is released from prison and sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma to rebuild his crime empire.
“Tulsa King scored as the No. 1 new series of the year, topping all others including House of the Dragon, with its preview on Paramount Network,” said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO, Paramount Media Networks & MTV Entertainment Studios in a statement. “And on Paramount+, it shattered records, driving us to our biggest new sign-up day in history – which is why we instantly greenlit season two.”
Debuting on November 13, the premiere episode simulcast on Paramount Network followed a new installment of Yellowstone and drew 3.7 million viewers, according to Nielsen. Comparably, that makes Tulsa King best new linear cable premiere of 2022 (ahead of the highly touted House of the Dragon debut on HBO).
“With the combination of the incomparable Sylvester Stallone and Taylor Sheridan’s darkly comedic twist on the beloved mobster genre, we have found our latest hit in Tulsa King, added Tanya Giles, Chief Programming Officer, Paramount Streaming. The series’ premiere on Paramount+ helped drive a record sign-up day fueled by our unique ability as Paramount Global to tap into Paramount Network’s incredible Yellowstone audience.”
In addition to Sylvester Stallone, Tulsa King features Andrea Savage, Max Casella, Martin Starr, Domenik Lombardozzi, Vincent Piazza, Jay Will, Garret Hedlund, A.C. Peterson, and Dana Delany. It is also executive-produced by Stallone, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Allen Coulter and Braden Aftergood.
