In a recent interview with SiriusXM satellite radio, Ozzy Osbourne gave an update regarding his health issues and how it may impact his upcoming rescheduled tour slated for May 2023. During the interview Osbourne specifically discusses the mobility complications he’s been facing as a result of his spinal surgery operation back in June of this year.
“It is so f**king tough because, I mean, I want to be out there. I want to be doing it. This f**king surgery this guy did. F**king hell, you have no idea. The thing is my head is all right, my creativity is ok, my singing is ok but I just can’t f**king walk much now, Ozzy told SiriusXM.
While it may have gone unnoticed to some viewers, during his performances at the Commomwealth Games in Britain and the NFL’s season opener at Sofi Stadium, Osbourne was being aided by a device to support his hips and lower back throughout the performances. The surgery he underwent in June was meant to realign metal hardware that had been implanted in his spine, and as Osbourne states, it was a necessary operation to keep him from being completely paralyzed.
“That surgeon told me if I didn’t have the surgery there would be a good chance I would be paralyzed from the neck down.”
Despite his constrained mobility and recent diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease, Osbourne has managed to stay creatively active with producing new music. Osbourne’s latest record with producer Andrew Watt, Patient Number 9, was released this year and saw pretty high praise amongst fans and critics. The record has even earned Osbourne quite a bit of attention at the upcoming Grammy awards, as it’s nominated in four different categories including Rock Album of the Year. However, as far as touring goes, Ozzy Osbourne’s upcoming leg for No More Tours 2 could face some constraints and cancelations due to his health.
“I can’t begin to tell you how f**king frustrating life has become. It is amazing how you go along in life and one stupid thing can screw everything up for a long time. I have never been ill this long in my life,” Osbourne told SiriusXM.
Whatever the status may be for these shows on No More Tours 2, it’s good to see Osbourne making his health a priority in what must be a very difficult and emotionally exhausting time for him and his family. While Osbourne will hopefully be able to return to live performce in the near future, the success he’s seen from his past two solo albums truly is a testament to the musical genius and workhorse he is.
