A Discord server operated by OpenSea was hacked to promote fraud, according to tweets from individuals and security firm PeckShield.

It appears that the access was used to promote a scam NFT mint. The attackers shared an announcement on the Discord News section regarding a mint pass offered in conjunction with YouTube. The message instructed users to visit a website that included the term YouTube but was not the official website. PeckShield has determined that the link is a phishing site.
The hacker used an account that appeared to be an official bot to post phishing links on the server. A member from OpenSea Discord also confirmed that the server was compromised. It’s possible that one user has lost an NFT, but there hasn’t been an official confirmation from the team.
The channel on which the links were published has apparently been deleted. The incident is currently being discussed in the community, and a report from the staff would provide a complete picture.
Anything might be used to obtain access to a wallet, and you don’t need to give passwords or private keys, as one person noted. Projects must now deal with the risk of impersonation and must maintain constant surveillance of their social media.
NFT becomes a major hacking target
Attacks on Discord servers are becoming all too common in the NFT space, where servers are frequently hacked to offer fraudulent giveaways. This occurred on the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Discord server. More recently, the Bored Ape Instagram account was also hacked to promote a counterfeit NFT mint — one that made $2.8 million from unaware users.
OpenSea’s Discord server has been targeted before, as its previous incarnation had also been. Its server has been subject to attacks by actors posing as support personnel who attempt to obtain account access by feigning to assist customers with issues.
OpenSea live with Solana NFTs
On the main digital marketplace, OpenSea, fungible tokens (NFTs) built on the Solana blockchain network have debuted. The announcement comes after a previous declaration from the platform’s official Twitter account earlier on Tuesday (March 29, 2022).
Also, expanding support for SOL NFTs is another expansion milestone for OpenSea following the firm’s $300 million in January funding. At the time, the crypto unicorn said that the fresh money influx would go towards further marketplace growth, extending services, and creating a metaverse project.
Furthermore, the campaign boosted OpenSea’s market valuation to over $13 billion, further establishing the platform’s dominance as the dominant digital collectibles marketplace in the NFT industry.
