Ons Jabeur Announces Pregnancy, Says Comeback Will Have To Wait Longer

Ons Jabeur, a three-time Grand Slam finalist, said she is expecting her first child in April and that her return to the tennis court will have to “wait a little longer”.

Jabeur announced in July she was taking a break from tennis, saying she was no longer happy playing the sport and it was time to put herself first, after nearly two years of playing through injuries.

On Monday, the 31-year-old gave fans an important update about her “cutest comeback”.

“Took a little break to rest and recharge… Turns out, we’ve been planning the cutest comeback ever,” Jabeur wrote in a post on Instagram, featuring her and husband holding a Wimbledon-themed baby onesie.

“The court will have to wait a little longer, because soon… we’ll be welcoming our tiniest teammate.

“Baby boy joining the team in April,” she added.

Jabeur last played at Wimbledon on June 30 in a first-round match against Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova, eventually retiring from the match due to difficulty breathing. She suffers from asthma and also experienced breathing difficulties at the 2025 Australian Open.

The Tunisian, a runner-up at the 2022 and 2023 Wimbledon as well as the 2022 U.S. Open, once held a career-high ranking of World No.2 but has slipped to 79th. She has won five WTA singles title during her career.

The highest-ranking player from an Arab nation, Jabeur is married to Karim Kammoun, who is also her fitness trainer.

In an interview with The National newspaper this week, Jabeur said she wasn’t retiring and would return to professional tennis when she is physically and mentally ready.

“I just want to enjoy [the break] and when my mind and body tell me you’re ready, you want to come back, then I will come back,” Ons Jabeur said in the interview.
