Ohio State-Michigan Tickets Set Record For Most Expensive Regular Season College Football Game

Topline

Tickets on the secondary market to Ohio State University’s away game against the University of Michigan on Saturday set the record for the most expensive regular season college football game in at least a decade, according to data from ticket sales company TicketiQ, though it falls well behind the most expensive college football game ever.

Key Facts

The average price on the secondary market for a ticket to the126-year-old rivalry costs a whopping $1,262, with sideline tickets starting just below $800 and the cheapest available nosebleed going for $676, according to TicketiQ, nearly doubling the get-in price of last year’s match-up.

The most expensive available tickets to see the No. 2 Buckeyes take on the No. 3 Wolverines will cost a whopping $6,400, for seats near the 50-yard line.

With a get-in price of $676, Saturday’s game is the most expensive since TicketiQ started tracking prices for the Ohio State-Michigan game in 2011 —tickets to that game cost $120, while the cheapest available tickets to the matchup never topped $400 between 2011 and 2022.

Although this year’s matchup is the most expensive regular season game, it falls well behind the 2018 NCAA National Championship game between Alabama and Georgia, the most expensive ever tracked by TicketiQ, which had a get-in price of $1,752.

Big Number

117. That’s how many years the Buckeyes and Wolverines have faced off, making the matchup—referred to simply as The Game—the 25th most played game between two teams in college football history. The only year the two rivals haven’t met since 1918 was in 2020, with games called off due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Michigan has won 60 of those games, over Ohio State’s 51, while six games have ended in a tie.

Tangent

Michigan will be playing without its head coach Jim Harbaugh, who was suspended from the sidelines earlier this month for the final three games of the regular season, including the Ohio State game. The Big Ten Conference announced the suspension following an NCAA investigation into an illegal sign-stealing scheme, which NCAA officials slammed as an “impermissible, in-person scouting operation over multiple years.”

What To Watch For

The Game kicks off at noon on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
