NYC DA Sues GOP Rep. Jordan Claiming Interference In Trump Case

In the suit, filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York, Bragg’s lawyers accuse Jordan of a “brazen and unconstitutional attack” on the ongoing case against Trump, they also accuse Jordan of intimidating the district attorney.

Bragg’s lawyers are attempting to stop Jordan from enforcing a subpoena he sent, as chairman of the House Judiciary committee, to Mark Pomerantz, a former employee of the district attorney’s office who left the office during the investigation into Trump and later wrote a book about his experience.

Bragg’s lawyers are also seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent Jordan from enforcing the subpoena for Pomerantz, who is also named in the suit.

The suit calls Jordan’s behavior unconstitutional and says he is not free to use Congress’s “limited subpoena power for raw political retaliation, intimidation, or obstruction.”

If Bragg is subpoenaed by Jordan, as the congressman has previously suggested he might do, Bragg’s lawyers are asking those subpoenas be ruled unconstitutional and unenforceable.

The suit reiterates Bragg’s previous claim that members of Congress do not have the authority to “conduct oversight” into Bragg’s investigation, as Jordan and other GOP leaders have suggested.
