- During Mid January, Twitter released a latest feature of NFTs for Twitter Blue users, where they can exhibit their owned NFTs by setting them up as DPs.
- Recently, Mark Zuckerberg made an announcement regarding Instagram that social media platform will add an NFT feature soon.
- Many prominent celebrities are into NFTs, and have set their profile pictures on Twitter exhibiting their acquisitions, including Matt Shadows, Eminem, etc.
Twitter Embraced It First
Back on 20th January 2022, Twitter released its latest feature of NFTs for Twitter Blue users. Folks of this paid subscription service are enabled to exhibit their acquired Non Fungible Tokens as their profile pictures, which are hexagonal instead of regular round shapes for regular users.
Currently, this attribute is accessible only on iOS devices and is expected to roll out on android smartphones too in near future, as Twitter claims.
NFTs caught the eyes of Twitter when various folks commenced exhibiting their acquired non-fungible tokens on their profile pictures. During September previous year, it began to explore the notion of an official authentication that will enable NFT owners to display their virtual assets.
NFT trend came into play when sportspersons and celebrity non-fungible tokens were sold by the National Basketball Association (NBA) the previous year.
It generated more than during a month than the whole NFT sector did during the preceding year.
Insta To Follow The Steps
Just a few days back, Mark Zuckerberg made an announcement that Instagram will soon support NFTs.
He stated that developers are working hard towards this development to bring this feature on the platform for users soon. Although, too much information regarding development was not revealed by Meta CEO, and it is uncertain when this will be implemented.
Last year during October, Facebook was retitled to Meta, stating their prime focus on metaverse.
Meta’s end of the metaverse is still under shadows, and we cannot exactly say when this prominent development will finish and comes to light in front of users.
Will Others Get Influenced?
Well, a chain reaction is expected to start if Instagram finally brings this mesmerizing concept to its platform. Since its inception, NFT and the metaverse sector have boomed prominently and generated a plethora of yield to its creators as well as its acquirers who sold it to another.
Let us look at this scenario again. So, Twitter started to explore this notion as soon as they realized their user base is into NFTs and wants to exhibit it on their platform, so the platform officially launched the NFT profile picture attribute for folks.
After this, Mark Zuckerberg is bringing this feature to Instagram too. Though if he brings in this attribute, it has to be more than just an NFT profile picture, so he announced that NFT minting feature will be there in the future.
If we look closely at this development, and a chain of reaction which have just started, I personally feel that rest of the social media platforms are going to implement such attributes at some point in the future, but they have to stand out from others to outperform them.
