Prominent enterprise analytics company MicroStrategy posted a vacancy notice by the end of September 2022. According to the job posting published on its website, MicroStrategy was looking for a software engineer to work on the products based on Lightning Network.
The announcement for vacancy in the company noted that a person as a “Bitcoin Lightning Software Engineer at MicroStrategy” would be building a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform over the Lightning network. This would be facilitating innovative solutions to deal with cyber security related challenges and authorizing new use cases related to eCommerce for enterprises.
The bitcoin savvy company mentioned about the experience part that the candidate would need to have experience in building software solutions which would be able to leverage Bitcoin blockchain and Lightning Network or any decentralized finance technology for that matter.
According to the job posting, it would be advantageous if candidates contributed to the development of Bitcoin Core, the most well-known Bitcoin client, Lightning Network Daemon (LND), a Lightning implementation, and other significant open-source crypto projects.
The Lightning Network, a layer-two solution built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain, allows for almost fee-free, instantaneous transactions using Bitcoin without the need to individually validate each one.
When MicroStrategy initially invested $250 million in Bitcoin in 2020, it marked the beginning of a buying binge. The business is currently the largest corporate owner of the asset, having spent about $3.98 billion to buy nearly 130,000 BTC as of its most recent report.
Michael Sayler, the former CEO of MicroStrategy who left his position in August, stated earlier this month at the Baltic Honeybadger conference in Riga that the company’s developers are working on solutions that would allow for the onboarding of numerous individuals onto the Lightning Network.
Lightning, according to Saylor, is “the most important thing going on in the world of technology,” and the business intelligence company is looking for solutions that would let companies “roll out Lightning to a hundred thousand employees every day” or “open Lightning wallets for 10 million customers overnight.”
Saylor explained that his business was “engaged in cyberspace and continuing to propagate Bitcoin” in a separate interview with MarketWatch from September. To do that, we’ll apply our expertise in enterprise software. Saylor frequently referred to the largest and oldest cryptocurrency as “digital gold” and a “safe haven” commodity.
MicroStrategy is known as one of the companies which are quite serious about their bitcoin strategy. In 2020, the company came up with the strategy and since then it has been consistently accumulating the top cryptocurrency. According to its filing report released in September, the company has overall bitcoin holdings of more than 130K BTC worth more than 2.4 billions USD. Bitcoin is currency trading at 18,726 USD at the time of writing.
