NBC Celebrates Comedy Icon Carol Burnett’s Upcoming 90th Birthday

Carol Burnett…we are so “glad we are having this time together!”

In honor of the beloved comedy legend’s upcoming 90th birthday, NBC has announced the special, Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love. The two-hour celebration, filmed at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles, will air on Carol’s birthday, Wednesday, April 26 at 8 p.m. ET (and will also stream next day on Peacock).

The logline: The star-studded event will feature an A-list lineup of musical performances and special guests who will come together to share their love for one of the most cherished comediennes in television history. The guest roster includes Cher, Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Ellen DeGeneres, Julie Andrews, Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Lily Tomlin, Marisa Tomei, Sofia Vergara, Steve Carell, Susan Lucci, Aileen Quinn, Tracee Ellis Ross, designer Bob Mackie, and Vicki Lawrence, the latter one of Carol’s “second bananas.”

“I’m so excited NBC decided to throw me a birthday party and invited all of my closest friends,” said Burnett in a statement. “I can’t wait to look back at so many wonderful moments throughout my career, I feel so lucky to share this night with everyone.”

Known, of course, for her 11-season (1967-78) weekly CBS variety hour, Carol Burnett rose to early fame as a repertoire player on the variety series The Garry Moore Show.

From her Broadway debut in Once Upon a Mattress, her early sitcom Stanley (opposite Buddy Hackett), countless TV show appearances (including, most recently, her recurring role as Marion in Better Call Saul), and the hit films The Four Seasons, A Wedding and Pete ‘n’ Tillie, the six-time Emmy Award-winning entertainer will be showcased in Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love. The special is executive produced by Carol Burnett, Brian Miller, Steve Sauer, Paul Miller and Baz Halpin, Mark Bracco & Linda Gierahn of Silent House Productions.
