Nahnatchka Khan And Sally Bradford McKenna Bring ‘Laid’ Remake To Peacock

Peacock is developing a new comedy show based on the Australian series, Laid. The new show of the same name will be made by Young Rock and Fresh Off The Boat creator Nahnatchka Khan and Son of Zorn showrunner Sally Bradford McKenna. The show will come from Davis Entertainment and Universal TV.

The Australian version of the show was written by Marieke Hardy and Kirsty Fisher. The show premiered in 2011 and ran for twelve episodes on ABC1. The show followed Roo McVie, a market researcher, whose exes start mysteriously dying. She and her friends decide to follow the trail to see if they can solve the mystery together.

There is no cast announced for the American Laid yet, however, Khan and Bradford McKenna will executive produce with John Davis, John Fox, Liz Watts, Hardy, Fisher and Jennifer Carreras. Universal TV, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio. Davis Entertainment, Khan’s Fierce Baby Productions, Porchlight Films and All3Media International are the production companies.

Bradford McKenna first worked with Khan on the 2012 cult comedy Don’t Trust the B—- In Apartment 23, which Khan created and executive produced. Since then the two collaborated on a comedy project called Revival, which was set up at Fox in 2017. Bradford McKenna went on to serve as exec producer/showrunner on Fox’s Son of Zorn while Khan became the creator and executive producer of Young Rock.

The project joins several TV reboots and remakes that have found a home on Peacock including Bel-Air, Saved by the Bell and Queer as Folk. Laid is exciting given, while a remake, it is less known to American Audiences.
