Morgan Wallen Makes History As His Latest Single Hits No. 1

Morgan Wallen scores a new champion on the Country Airplay chart, which is one of Billboard’s most competitive rosters. The tally, published every week, lists the tracks that rack up the greatest number of total audience impressions on country radio stations throughout the United States.

Wallen is in charge again with “20 Cigarettes,” the latest smash from his 2025 blockbuster album, I’m the Problem. The tune, the seventh official single from the full-length, hits the peak position 20 weeks into its tenure on the tally, in a strange bit of coincidence.

As “20 Cigarettes” rules the Country Airplay chart, Wallen manages a feat that no other superstar in the genre has accomplished before.

Morgan Wallen Scores a Sixth No. 1 From I’m the Problem

“20 Cigarettes” is the sixth No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart to come from Wallen’s I’m the Problem album. The only single from the set that failed to rule was “What I Want,” the Grammy nominee’s duet with pop singer Tate McRae. That track was pushed to pop radio and thus never managed to break into the top 40 on the country radio list.

Wallen previously ruled the Country Airplay chart with “Lies, Lies, Lies,” “Love Somebody,” the full-length title cut, “Just in Case,” and “I Got Better.”

Morgan Wallen Manages a Rare Two-Album Feat

Billboard reports that Wallen is now the only musician to rack up half a dozen champions on the Country Airplay chart from two different albums. It’s quite the feat for any name in that vertical to land multiple leaders from the same studio effort, but six during one promotional campaign is nearly unheard of. Nearly, of course, because Wallen has done it before.

One Thing at a Time Produced Six Radio No. 1s

The musical superstar has now seen both of his two most recent albums produce exactly six leaders on the Country Airplay chart. Of the eight singles Wallen chose from his lengthy One Thing at a Time, half a dozen spent time at No. 1 on the Country Airplay roster. That roundup includes “You Proof,” “Thought You Should Know,” “Last Night,” “Thinking About Me,” “Man Made a Bar,” a collaboration with Eric Church, and finally “Cowgirls,” which also credits producer, songwriter, and artist Ernest.

Both “One Thing at a Time” and “Everything I Love” – two additional singles from the full-length – hit the top 10, but never managed to climb all the way to the highest spot. “Everything I Love” peaked at No. 3, while “One Thing at a Time,” the title track from the massively successful release, stalled at No. 8. Those two cuts are Wallen’s only singles to enter the Country Airplay chart’s top 10, but not reach No. 1.

Morgan Wallen Charts His Twentieth Country Airplay No. 1

Impressively, the dozen No. 1s that Wallen has collected between his two most recent albums only account for a little more than half of his leaders on the Country Airplay tally. As “20 Cigarettes” surges to the top spot, Wallen earns his milestone twentieth ruler, and he becomes one of only 13 names to hit that figure.

Here is a list of all of Morgan Wallen’s number one hits on the Country Airplay chart:
