Monday, June 6th Word Of The Day Solution And Hint

Monday has arrived. The first Monday of June—and my daughter’s fifteenth birthday! That doesn’t make me feel the least bit old!

Today’s Wordle is a cool word, though not the type of word one would typically associate with a summer month.

June is also Wordle’s birthday month. The very first Wordle puzzle came out on June 19th, though the game wasn’t released to the masses until October.

How To Play Wordle

First of all, Wordle is not on the App Store or Google Play. It’s a browser-based game that you can play on your phone, tablet or PC by visiting its official website at The New York Times.

You get six guesses to figure out the five-letter word. Correct letters in the correct spot show up in green boxes. Correct letters in the wrong spot show up in yellow boxes. Incorrect letters get grey boxes. Using your knowledge of vocabulary and some good old-fashioned luck, you puzzle out the answer.

Today’s Wordle #352 Hint & Answer

Before you venture further into this post, please remember there are spoilers. This may seem obvious given the headline and whatnot, but we still include a spoiler warning for those rare few who get this far without realizing.

First, a hint: Eeyore’s mood.

And the answer is . . . .

This one took me too many guesses by at least one guess.

My first guess wasn’t a bad word but I got very unlucky with it. According to Wordle Bot, tripe typically cuts the 2,309 possible solutions down to just 97. This time? 307 options were left. Ouch. This was the unluckiest possible outcome for my guess!

My second guess—a ‘wonderful choice’ according to Wordle Bot—was better than it looked, narrowing down the possible solutions to just 28. After bound I guessed shock for guess number three, and unbeknownst to me at the time, this narrowed my options down to just two: aloof and gloom.

This is where I kind of screwed the proverbial pooch. I realized that I hadn’t ruled out the vowel ‘A’ and started thinking about what words I could cobble together with both ‘O’ and ‘A’ in them. I did not think of aloof, which would have been a great guess. Instead, I thought of gloam. At this point I wish I’d just gone for the more common and likely answer, gloom, but I didn’t. Fortunately it was pretty obvious what the answer would be for guess #5.

Gloom and gloam are related words. Both refer to darkness. Gloom is typically a mood, however. You’re gloomy, down, sullen. Gloam, on the other hand, refers to the darkest part of twilight—the final moments before true night sets in. Kind of a cool word!
