The highly-anticipated second season of Warzone 2 and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II may be delayed according toa new leak. This is bad news for players desperate for new content who have been expecting a major update on February 1st.
The last time the game was updated beyond playlist updates and bug fixes was the release of Season 1 Reloaded on December 14th. However, this update only added a small amount of new content. The two new maps added since launch—Shipment and Shoot House—were on 24/7 rotation in Modern Warfare 2019, and barely count as “new.” The three-player Raid was a cool addition to the game, but after you’ve played it once, there’s not much reason to play again. By and large, we’re playing practically the same game we were at launch though with few bugs and crashes, thank goodness.
The leak comes by way of CodSploitz on Twitter, who has leaked Shop Bundles correctly in the past. He notes that the final Season 1 bundle is scheduled in the game files for February 2nd, a day after the season is supposedly ending. The new end-date in the game files is February 15th, meaning Season 2 will start on the 15th or 16th now if the leak is accurate.
This is depressing for those of you who, like me, play this game regularly and are ready for some new content. In particular, I’m just about done with Warzone 2 until the Resurgence mode is added. I’m just not that big of a fan of battle royale, and Resurgence strikes the perfect balance between the fast-pace (and respawn friendly) multiplayer modes of Modern Warfare II and the battle royale mode in Warzone 2. The smaller maps and lobby sizes are also a nice change of pace.
On top of new maps in Multiplayer, I’m eager for the return of Gunfight. The highly tactical 2v2 mode was my favorite new addition in Modern Warfare 2019 but hasn’t made a return since 2020’s Black Ops Cold War. As much as I enjoy regular multiplayer, I badly miss Gunfight. I also miss the weapon-rotating Gun Game mode, though my crew plays a custom version of that mode in Custom Games regularly so it’s not as big of a deal.
Hopefully this leak is not true and Season 2 lands when the Battle Pass timer says it’s coming, at the start of February. If it is delayed, let’s hope it means more content and fewer bugs at launch. Stay tuned.
