Miley Cyrus’s New Single Disappoints As It Arrives

In a little over a week, Miley Cyrus will release her new album, Something Beautiful. The set is one of the most highly anticipated pop projects of 2025, but so far, it has yet to produce a true global smash.

After dropping the first single, “End of the World,” in early April, the singer recently delivered a new tune from the project titled “More to Lose.” While it’s not clear if the track is a proper single or just a promotional cut, as it arrives on the charts in the United Kingdom, it disappoints somewhat by getting off to a very slow beginning.

“More to Lose” Debuts Low

“More to Lose” barely makes it onto the Official Singles chart, the ranking of the 100 most-consumed songs across the country. It launches at No. 91, earning the second-lowest start of the week. Only Blackpink singer Rosé comes in lower, as her new track “Messy,” taken from the F1 soundtrack, manages a lower starting point as it debuts in last place, at No. 100.

“More to Lose” is a Bestseller

“More to Lose” also manages to appear on two purchase-focused rankings, as it seems that fans buying the cut to support Cyrus are largely to thank for its debut. “More to Lose” opens at No. 39 on the Official Singles Downloads chart. It just misses out on becoming a top 40 success on the Official Singles Sales tally, which takes into account not just digital downloads but also purchases on physical formats, as it kicks off its time at No. 41.

“End of the World” is Still Miley’s Top Performer

On each of those three rankings, Cyrus sees her previous focus track appear much higher, as interest in “End of the World” is still relatively strong. The tune drops on the trio of lists this frame, but it’s still performing decently. It dips nearly 20 spaces on the Official Singles chart, falling from No. 65 to No. 83. It does manage to remain inside the top 40 on both the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales rankings, coming in at Nos. 30 and 31, respectively.

Miley Cyrus is About to Drop Her New Album

“More to Lose” is the fourth song released ahead of Something Beautiful dropping in full, which is set to happen on May 30. Before “End of the World,” she shared both “The Prelude” and the title track. Both of those cuts made minor chart impacts in a handful of nations, but were not promoted as proper singles.

Depending on how well “More to Lose” performs in the coming weeks, it could be upgraded to proper single status — or it may remain in this gray area as something of a promotional tune.
