Miley Cyrus has once again claimed the top spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart, solidifying her recent single as a surprisingly sturdy smash. The Billboard Global 200 is a weekly chart that measures the popularity of songs based on a combination of streams and sales worldwide. Cyrus’ triumphant return to the summit comes courtesy of her hit single, “Flowers,” which has unexpectedly become a historic win for the singer.
With “Flowers” reclaiming the No. 1 position on the Billboard Global 200, Cyrus now finds herself in the company of music icon Mariah Carey, whose “All I Want for Christmas” has lived on top of the tally for the same length of time—though not in the same manner.
Both artists have achieved the impressive feat of having one of their songs spend 13 weeks atop the chart. Cyrus’ track, “Flowers,” has now surpassed its previous 12-week reign and is now enjoying a lucky thirteenth frame at the pinnacle of the chart. This achievement means that Cyrus and Carey are tied for the longest stay in the chart’s penthouse among female artists.
Although both tracks have spent the same number of weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, there is a significant difference between the singers’ accomplishments. At the rate it’s going, Carey’s Christmas classic is poised to become the song with the most turns in the chart’s top position, as tracks like “Flowers” lack the holiday boost to sustain their reigns.
While Cyrus and Carey have achieved incredible success on the Billboard Global 200, there is one song that has surpassed their records. Harry Styles holds the record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the chart with his hit single, “As It Was.” The track dominated the ranking for an impressive 15 weeks during its heyday, placing Styles in a league of his own.
