Miley Cyrus was hoping to score her first Academy Award nomination in the Best Original Song category for “Dream as One,” which she co-wrote for Avatar: Fire and Ash. Sadly, Cyrus, as well as fellow superstars like Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, and Nine Inch Nails, were left out in the cold, as the Academy overlooked them in favor of five other tunes which are competing for one of the most prestigious prizes in music.
“Dream as One” was not a big hit when it arrived in late 2025, and now that the Golden Globe-nominated cut didn’t end up an Oscar nominee, Cyrus has less on her plate – though the singer is up for Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys. This week, she scores not just a new hit on a Billboard ranking in America, but her first win on a tally she’s never reached before, and she lands on the list thanks to one of her family members.
“Know This” Brings Miley Cyrus to a Chart She’s Never Seen
Cyrus debuts the song “Know This” on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart. The weekly list looks only at the tracks that reach the largest audiences via radio stations throughout the United States that play a form of rock music known as adult alternative, which skews older and is typically thought of as a more laid-back sound. “Know This” opens at No. 40, immediately becoming a minor top 40 success on the tally.
Braison Cyrus Earns His First Billboard Chart Appearance
“Know This” is fronted by a different Cyrus, with Miley credited as a featured act. Braison Cyrus, the superstar’s younger brother by two years, earns his first placement on any Billboard roster as “Know This” arrives.
The Cyrus Family’s Legacy on the Billboard Charts
Braison is the latest from the Cyrus dynasty to land a Billboard hit. The first to do so was patriarch Billy Ray Cyrus, who made his name with his country smash “Achy Breaky Heart.” Then, decades later, he returned alongside Lil Nas X on “Old Town Road,” which once stood as the longest-running No. 1 hit of all time.
Several people within Miley’s generation have also appeared on at least one of Billboard’s rankings. Trace Cyrus scored a huge hit in the aughts with his band Metro Station, which sent “Shake It” into the top 10 on the Hot 100. Younger sister Noah Cyrus has also appeared on the most important songs tally in America with multiple tracks, and she was once in the running for the Best New Artist Grammy.

Miley Cyrus and Her Brother Join Several Debuts
The two Cyrus siblings score one of only a handful of debuts on the current edition of the Adult Alternative Airplay chart. “Fools Gold” by Buffalo Traffic Jam launches at No. 28, Steven Sanchez sees “Sweet Love” kick off its time at No. 33, while “Barbed Wire” from the group Cardinals begins at No. 36.
Miley and Noah Cyrus Duetted With Their Brother Braison
“Know This” is featured on Braison’s EP As Long as You’ll Stay, which he released in the fall of 2025. Of the four tracks on the short set, two include features from his siblings. Miley is credited on “Know This,” while Noah joins him on “As Long as You’ll Stay,” the first tune on the studio effort.
“Know This” becomes a Billboard-charting success more than four months after Braison released it in early September of 2025.
