Miley Cyrus Blocked From A New No. 1 By One Of The Biggest Names In K-Pop

Miley Cyrus launches her brand new album Something Beautiful across a variety of Billboard charts this week. After its first full tracking frame, the highly-anticipated set begins its time inside the top 10 on almost every ranking it appears on in the United States, becoming a standout performer — and a particularly strong seller – right out of the gate.

The singer nearly landed a new No. 1 on one of the most competitive albums lists in America, but she’s blocked from the summit by one of the biggest names in K-pop history.

Something Beautiful Debuts at No. 2

Something Beautiful opens in the runner-up space on the Top Album Sales chart. Cyrus’s latest is forced to settle for second place on Billboard’s ranking of the top-selling full-lengths and EPs in the U.S., which uses a methodology that blends purchases of physical formats and digital downloads. In its first seven-day period of availability, Something Beautiful managed to sell 27,000 copies, according to Luminate.

Miley Cyrus Scores Her Fifteenth Top 10

Cyrus earns her milestone fifteenth top 10 on the Top Album Sales chart as Something Beautiful arrives. She has previously led the charge with her own Breakout and Bangerz, as well as a trio of projects from the TV show that started it all: Hannah Montana, Hannah Montana: The Movie, and Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus.

Miley Cyrus’s Fourth Album to Stall at No. 2

Something Beautiful is the fourth Cyrus title to stall at No. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart. It matches Hannah Montana 3, The Time of Our Lives EP, and Endless Summer Vacation — her most recent full-length before Something Beautiful — all of which missed ruling by just one spot.

Seventeen’s Happy Burstday Beats Miley Cyrus for No. 1

This week, the throne on the Top Album Sales roster belongs to Happy Burstday by Seventeen. The South Korean boy band appears just one space ahead of Cyrus, but easily claims the top spot as the latest release from the group opens with a little more than 46,000 pure purchases. That’s just under 20,000 more than Cyrus managed.

Something Beautiful Wins on Vinyl

Something Beautiful does manage to conquer the Vinyl Albums chart, earning Cyrus her third winner on that format-specific list. At the same time, it opens at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 44,300 equivalent units shifted, and about half of those are pure purchases.
