MetaMask, one of the most popular way to access the ethereum network, has added instant bank transfers according to its key backer ConsenSys.
“Instant ACH allows orders to complete in minutes instead of days like a standard ACH order, and works on holidays, unlike regular ACH,” ConsenSys said in introducing the new method.
MetaMask used to be crypto only, but now you can fund the browser wallet even with Apple Pay.
You can also pay with a credit or debit card, but they say “instant ACH is more likely to work as paying with cards may be declined in 50% of purchases.”
It is quicker than a bank account transfer as it can take just 10 minutes rather than days, with this provided through Sardine.
“Sardine is an instant fiat and crypto settlement platform with a robust compliance and fraud prevention infrastructure used behind the scenes by existing crypto providers like FTX, MoonPay, Blockchain, and Autograph,” they say.
MetaMask has grown to 21 million users, up from just half a million in 2020, making it one of the fastest growing in the crypto space.
They have a swap feature where you can exchange crypto in a decentralized way on the defi platforms.
This is now handling some $32 million a day in volumes, up significantly from 2020 though down from the bull peak of $300 million.
The browser extension, which lets you connect to the ethereum blockchain, is one of the oldest startup in the eth space, launched in 2016.
Since then, there have been occasional rumors on whether MetaMask will airdrop a token to its users, at least the swap users.
Back in March Joseph Lubin, the CEO of ConsenSys, claimed there’s a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) being formed for MetaMask, and even seemed to confirm that a token will be launched.
There has been no development on that front, however, with no such token launched yet, making it one of a handful of tokenless eth projects.
