Memecoin News: Pump.fun Sets New Rule to Lock Creator Fee Redirects

Key Insights:

  • The latest memecoin news announcement by Pump.fun says the platform has introduced a fee redirect limit.
  • This new limit will allow token deployers to make a single change to the fee recipients after the token goes live.
  • Once the change has been made, the platform will lock the feature permanently.

The latest memecoin news announcement indicates that Pump.fun will only allow a single fee redirect per token. Once a user initiates this, the memecoin launchpad and DEX will permanently lock any further redirects or changes.

This new update will restrict creator fee settings and limit token deployers to only one post-launch change, hence impacting how the platform distributes fees across the platform.

Memecoin News: Pump.fun Enforces One-Time Limit on Fee Redirect Changes

As per a recent memecoin news update by Pump.fun, co-founder Alon Cohen told users that the memecoin launchpad would only allow deployers to alter fees once per token. With this new update, Cohen emphasized that incidents of ‘griefing’ would go down.

By doing so, this would also reduce all forms of token manipulation associated with fee redirection. In essence, this happens when the deployer of a token alters who receives the token fees once a particular memecoin gains traction.

The new feature will give token creators a single opportunity to redirect the creator fees to another wallet. Once redirected, the deployer will have no other chance to reconfigure the fees’ destination since the new update will permanently lock that capability.

Pump.fun’s recent update follows a previous memecoin news update when the platform announced in January that it would completely overhaul its creator-fee model.

According to the previous announcement, Cohen insisted that the launchpad had skewed incentives and was disproportionately incentivizing creators over traders.

Memecoin News Update: Overhauling Creator Incetives In Favor Of Traders

The memecoin generator platform introduced various changes on January 10, including a feature for multi-wallet distribution and post-launch controls.

As per the announcement on X, these features were meant to revamp transparency and streamline incentives for the trading activity ratio.

Later, on February 17, Alex Cohen said the platform had rolled out the Pump.fun Cashback Coins. This would allow token deployers to decide during deployment whether the fees should go into their wallets or directly into trader wallets.

These changes, said Cohen, would rebalance how the platform form distributes rewards across creators and traders. At the same time, the memecoin news also noted that creators had to set up the overall fee model during deployment.

However, there was a clause adding the capability to reconfigure the specific recipient of the fees and the model of distribution once the token went live.

As such, the underlying recipient could change even if the overall fee model remained unchanged. However, users complained about transparency issues surrounding the feature, prompting the platform to release the latest update in Pump.fun’s recent meme coin news update.

This new feature will limit the deployer to adjusting the fee recipient’s wallet address only once after launch. Once adjusted, the platform locks the feature permanently.

However, community response to the new improvement suggests that users are not satisfied, with several claiming it will do little to combat the challenges facing the platform.

Meanwhile, one particular user, Tom, said that while the change does not completely address the problem, it still shows the platform acknowledges that the issue exists.
