Macy’s Fourth Of July Celebration Creates A Spectacle Over New York City

Fireworks are loved by everyone, and Macy’s creates the biggest spectacle above New York City. If you are in Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens you will have a prime view of the event. It starts about 9.25 pm on Tuesday, July 4. Macy’s salute to America features an array of dazzling fireworks shells and effects.

This year the holiday event will launch 60,000 shells and effects from barges positioned between East 26^th street and East 40^th street along the East River allowing for viewing from the three boroughs in New York City.

“ Macy’s Fireworks celebration will be nothing short of showstopping” said Will Cross, executive producer of Macy’s 4^th of July Fireworks. “Millions of spectators come together every year to witness the spectacular performance along the East River. There will be high flying “jaw dropping” fireworks display that will fill the night sky with color, knight shapes, and thunderous sound. Paired with a score featuring American classics, this year’s celebration will be extra-special as Macy’s honors trailblazers that have forged America’s past, present and future.

Macy’s Fireworks on the East River is an annual New York tradition since 1976. That makes this the 47^th edition of the fireworks. This new version was conceived and produced by Macy’s with Pyro Spectaculars by Souza. The 25-minute extravaganza is synchronized to a spectacular musical score. It will feature a host of shells and numerous effects in 30 colors and shapes.

Of course, there will be new effects including a mile wide waving flag created by a combination of red, white and blue palm and strobing shells. Other spectacular displays include sunflower ring with crackling pistil shells, red stop signs shaped effects, and a new Ghost pyro that turn from one color to another.

This year’s pyrotechnic design will feature the most dynamic collection of animated shells ever launched. The fireworks show will also be a tribute in light and the signature moment of each spectacle of the Macy’s Golden Mile. It will be showcased to “The Best” by legendary Tina Turner. Thousands of golden-hued shells will create a dramatic cascade stretching for more than a mile.

The best view. You can see the fireworks from any area with an unobstructed view of the skyline above the East River. Official viewing locations will be managed by NYPD and will be announced before the evening of the fireworks.
