‘Live At Yankee Stadium’ Brings Billy Joel’s New York State Of Mind To Big Screen

Billy Joel fans will have an opportunity to catch the Grammy-winning artist’s iconic 1990 Yankee Stadium performance on the big screen when the re-edited and newly mixed concert film Billy Joel: Live At Yankee Stadium is released in theaters for a two-night global fan event (October 5 and October 9, 2022 in the U.S. and October 5 and October 8, 2022 in Canada).

Capturing Joel’s sell-out performances on June 22 and 23, 1990 and shot live on 16mm film, the new release offers new content including interviews with Joel and behind the scene’s footage. Also in the mix, is a never-before-released performance of “Uptown Girl,” Joel’s 1983 Billboard Hot 100 hit that spent 22 weeks on the chart and also became a familiar soundtrack for the world’s fascination with the piano player’s relationship and 1985 marriage to supermodel Christie Brinkley.

Under the supervision of Brian Ruggle, Joel’s long-time sound engineer, Billy Joel: Live At Yankee Stadium has been re-edited in 4K with Dolby ATMOS audio and re-mixed from the original multi-track tapes by Jay Vicari. The original video Live At Yankee Stadium received a 1991 Grammy nomination (34th Annual Grammy Awards) for Best Music Video – Long Form.

Billy Joel: Live at Yankee Stadium will be released in Digital, 2CD, 3LP and Blu-ray formats on November 4, 2022 by Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment.
