What Lilo doesn’t know is that Stitch was genetically engineered for destruction — and now he’s being hunted down by the aliens who created him. “Stitch, an extraterrestrial entity, comes to planet Earth after he escapes his prison, where he tries to impersonate a dog. Things take a turn when Lilo adopts him from an animal shelter,” the synopsis reads.

The film had an outstanding run at the box office, opening with a record-breaking $183 million Memorial Day weekend debut. Just days ago, Lilo & Stitch became the first Hollywood release of the year to hit $1 billion at the worldwide box office. It’s currently the second-highest-grossing movie of the year in the U.S., behind A Minecraft Movie, according to Box Office Mojo.

Lilo & Stitch is currently available to stream on video-on-demand platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Fandango At Home. You can purchase the live-action remake for $29.99 or rent the film for $24.99. For rentals, you have 30 days to start watching the video and 48 hours to finish once started.

When Will Lilo & Stitch Be Released On Blu-ray, DVD And 4K?

Lilo & Stitch will also be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 26, 2025. The physical versions are available for pre-order now from retailers such as Amazon.

Which Streaming Service Will Lilo & Stitch (2025) Land On?

Lilo & Stitch is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, so the live-action film will be released on Disney+ in the near future.

When Will Lilo & Stitch (2025) Be Streaming On Disney+?

Lilo & Stitch will likely arrive on Disney+ about three to four months after its theatrical premiere in May 2025, placing the streaming release around late August or early to mid-September 2025.

This timeline is based on the release patterns of other recently successful Disney films. For example, Moana premiered in theaters in November 2024 and landed on Disney+ in March 2025, just over three months later. 2024’s Mufasa: The Lion King had a slightly shorter theatrical window of 96 days, but still debuted on Disney+ more than three months after its release.

Meanwhile, Disney’s live-action Snow White remake, which flopped in theaters this spring, arrived on Disney+ just under three months after its premiere. Based on Lilo & Stitch’s stronger box office performance and its late July digital release, we expect it to follow a timeline closer to or slightly over three months.
