Lana Del Rey’s New Chapter Begins As Her Debut Album Becomes A Bestseller

For months now, Lana Del Rey has been teasing a new album. The singer-songwriter has dropped details in interviews, even mentioning possible titles — some of which have already been discarded. At various points, she’s described the effort as a country project, and then altered that description, though as the timeline has stretched on, specifics have changed more than once. Now, as Del Rey finally releases the first single from the upcoming full-length, fans are getting excited, and they finally have something to listen to and enjoy while they wait to see when the set will finally be delivered.

Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die is a Bestseller Again

Del Rey’s brand new single “Henry, Come On” may be getting all the headlines at the moment, but its arrival has seemingly convinced fans to revisit her earliest work. Born to Die, the full-length that turned her into a star more than a decade ago, is once again one of the top-selling titles in the U.S. This week, the project returns to Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart, the 50-spot ranking of the bestselling albums in the country based purely on purchases.

Born to Die reenters at No. 47 on the tally. According to Luminate, the collection sold just over 2,400 copies in the latest tracking frame. That’s only a small increase from the week prior, but it is enough to push the title back onto the competitive list.

Born to Die is a Huge Winner Across the Charts

Del Rey’s notable performance on the charts in America doesn’t end with the Top Album Sales list. Born to Die can be found on three other Billboard rankings this week. It climbs slightly on two of them and only dips on one.

On the Top Alternative Albums chart, Born to Die rises one rung to No. 13. Over on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums ranking, it also improves by a single spot, moving up to No. 21. At the same time, the set takes a modest step down on the Billboard 200, where it slips just one space to No. 107.

Born to Die has Almost Topped Several Tallies

Throughout the years, Born to Die has managed to hit No. 1 on both the Top Alternative Albums and the Top Rock & Alternative Albums rankings. While it’s never quite ruled the Billboard 200 or the Top Album Sales chart, it has come very close on both. The album has peaked at No. 2 on each of those tallies.

“Henry, Come On” Teases What’s Next

On Friday (April 11), Del Rey finally released the first single from her upcoming effort. Titled “Henry, Come On,” the track arrived with plenty of fanfare, as fans of the singer-songwriter had been eagerly anticipating hearing what this new sonic direction would sound like. The acoustic ballad leans into the country sound she’s been promising for some time now, but not too intensely. But just as the tune was being embraced by her followers, the singer also shared some frustrating news.

Del Rey revealed that the album has once again undergone a revamp. The previous May release window is no longer in place, and a new title and date have yet to be confirmed.
