With the release of her latest album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, Lana Del Rey has made history by dominating Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. This week, 11 songs from the set make their debut on the ranking, which compiles sales, streaming, and radio play data to determine the most-consumed tunes in the U.S. that are labeled as rock or alternative.
With the addition of these 11 new entries, Del Rey has now accrued a total of 50 placements on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart throughout her career. According to Billboard, this is the second-most of all time, tying her with Machine Gun Kelly. The only artist with more placements is the pop/rock band Imagine Dragons, who have sent 63 tracks to the chart so far.
This week, nobody came close to matching Del Rey’s success on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. Not only did she debut 11 songs on the list, but she fills a total of 14 spaces on the ranking, including some tunes that were released ahead of the album drop.
Despite occupying more spots on the chart than anyone else, Del Rey is not competing for the highest spaces. Her highest placement this week is the single “A&W,” which sits at No. 18 after once peaking inside the top 10.
Throughout her years as a star, Del Rey has racked up just five top 10 hits–only 10% of all the tracks that have placed somewhere on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. She rose highest in 2017 with “Love,” which stalled one rung shy of owning the ranking.
In addition to her own success, Del Rey has brought a handful of musicians along with her for the ride. Several artists featured on Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd also debut on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, including Jon Batiste, SYML, Tommy Genesis, and Father John Misty.
