Blockchain services provider, Solana Labs recently became the latest firm to expand its presence in the global gaming ecosystem through a long-term cooperation agreement with Krafton, the creator of the popular PUBG game.
Through the collaboration, both companies are planning to assist the development and operation of blockchain and NFT-based games and services. Moreover, Krafton and Solana will jointly cooperate on investment opportunities.
“KRAFTON will continuously see ways to work closely with blockchain companies like Solana Labs as we work toward establishing our Web 3.0 ecosystem,” said Hyungchul Park, Lead of Web 3.0 Roundtable at KRAFTON, Inc. “As one of the best global high-performance blockchain with strength in high speed and low fees, Solana represents the best of the Web 3.0 ecosystem and its technologies. Through this cooperation, KRAFTON will acquire the insight needed to accelerate its investment in and output of blockchain-based experiences.”
Blockchain-based gaming services have created a massive buzz in the Web 3.0 ecosystem. Earlier this month, Binance Labs, the venture capital arm and innovation incubator of Binance, announced an investment in AlwaysGeeky Games to support the development in the blockchain gaming industry.
Krafton
With a strong presence in the international gaming industry, Krafton is planning to increase its Web 3.0 and non-fungible token capabilities. In the past few months, Krafton has announced several partnerships with companies related to NFT, metaverse, and blockchain, including Seoul Auction Blue, XX Blue, and NAVER Z (Zepeto).
“We’re excited by KRAFTON’s commitment to building the future of gaming on Solana,” said Johnny Lee, Head of Games Business Development at Solana Labs. “KRAFTON is an established innovator in the games industry and we are excited to be part of their next level up. We are seeing gamers increasingly seek out on-chain games and gaming companies who respond quickly to this demand will set themselves up well for ongoing success.”
