‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Sing-Along Version Coming To Theaters

The Netflix musical sensation KPop Demon Hunters is coming to theaters for a special sing-along event later this month.

Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, KPop Demon Hunters was released on Netflix on June 20 and became an instant smash. The official summary for KPop Demon Hunters reads, “When they aren’t selling out stadiums, Kpop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey use their secret identities as badass demon hunters to protect their fans from an ever-present supernatural threat. Together, they must face their biggest enemy yet – an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise.”

The film stars the voices of Arden Cho as Rumi, May Hong as Mira and Ji-young Yoo as Zoe. The voice cast also includes Ahn Hyo-seop as Jinu, Kim Yunjin as Celine, Daniel Dae Kim as Healer, Ken Jeong as Bobby and Lee Byung-hun as Gwi-Ma.

After amassing huge viewership numbers on Netflix, KPop Demon Hunters is bringing a concert-like setting to movie theaters with a sing-along event. According to Netflix TUDUM, KPop Demon Hunters is coming to select theaters for one weekend only in the U.S. and Canada on Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug. 24. Tickets for the event go on sale on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT.

“In celebration of the global hit, which is currently the most-watched Netflix animated original film of all time, KPop Demon Hunters A Sing-Along Event invites HUNTR/X and Saja Boys devotees alike to gather and belt their hearts out to a sing-along version of the wildly popular animated film,” the announcement on TUDUM reads.

Following its release on June 20, KPop Demon Hunters has been viewed 158.8 million times, which equates to 264.6 million hours viewed, which makes it the fourth-highest viewed Netflix original movie globally in the history of the streaming platform and the most-viewed Netflix animated movie of all time.

Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds’ Red Notice is the No. 1 most-viewed movie on Netflix to date, followed by Taron Edgerton, Jason Bateman and Sofia Carson’s Carry-On and Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence’s Don’t Look Up.

KPop Demon Hunters is also a huge hit with Rotten Tomatoes critics, who have given the film a 97% “fresh” rating based on 60 reviews. The RT Critics Consensus for the film reads, “Animated with infectious energy and vibrant colors, KPop Demon Hunters is jaunty family entertainment with a terrific soundtrack to boot.”

KPop Demon Hunters also received 92% “fresh” score on RT’s Popcornmeter based on 2,500-plus verified user ratings.
