KPop Demon Hunters
Netflix
Well, it was going to happen eventually, and that “eventually” has turned out to be a full two months after release. After spending the majority of that time at #1 on Netflix’s top 10 movie list, KPop Demon Hunters may finally be cooling off, currently down to #3 today behind some new movie offerings.
Occasionally, we have seen a new movie come along and take down KPop Demon Hunters a peg, but in third behind The Thursday Murder Club and Unknown Number: The High School Catfish, it’s moving even further down the list. But it still has another month to crank out even more hours for Netflix’s 90 day viewership chart.
KPop Demon Hunters now tops that all-time movie chart, 236 million views to Red Notice’s 230 million views. I refuse to believe that 230 million people ever watched Red Notice, but I digress. Again, it has another month to increase that lead even further, and soon nothing will even be close. It’s just that the numbers are going to go up slower now, and its absolutely unprecedented run is finally slowing down a bit.
Records are still being made weekly for the movie, mainly on a number of music charts across the world including Billboard and Spotify. It’s set records for KPop groups, for movie soundtracks and just in general for longevity and chart placement, not just for a song like Golden, but for half the tracks on the OST.

This week, KPop Demon Hunters secured a “Song of the Summer” nomination for the VMAs for Golden, ahead of the show on Sunday, September 7. Fans are hoping for a live performance of the track from the actual singers behind the girls in the movie, EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, who are different than the voice actors, but we have no word on if that will happen. There is also talk that Golden is likely to secure an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards this year, albeit that’s getting ahead of things a bit. That said, I mean, name any movie with any songs with any amount of impact like the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack in the past year? I’d probably nominate two of them (Your Idol).
We are still waiting on word about a KPop Demon Hunters sequel, where reports come in weekly that it’s being negotiated behind the scenes between the directors, Sony and Netflix, who all must work together to secure more movies and the entire future of the franchise. So hopefully we’ll hear more info soon.
