Basically, the project will allow gaming studios and companies access to a technology that helps offset gas fees, which will apply to games built on Klaytn.
Klaytn Foundation Head of Global Group David Shin commented:
” With our vision to enable an open metaverse for all, Klaytn aims to build a dynamic gaming ecosystem that allows players to truly own their in-game assets. Through our gas fee rebate program, we hope to provide more players with opportunities to explore the wonders of Web3 gaming.”
Grants of up to $100,000
The rebate program will work via gas fee delegation feature on the Klaytn network and will offer offsets for gaming companies on the blockchain as well as these companies’ gas fees incurred in Externally Owned Accounts or Contract Accounts.
Klaytn’s delegation feature that allows gaming companies to pay their users’ gas fees therefore helps remove a major pain point for users and hence for blockchain games’ quests to onboard more users.
The gas fee rebate initiative will see selected game companies benefit from up to 100% gas fee offset, with the offer accounting for fees incurred since January 2022. The program is offering up to $100,000 worth of the native KLAY token, at a per month per grantee ratio.
These rebates are paid for from the Klaytn Growth Fund, a project seeking to advance the blockchain gaming ecosystem on Klaytn.
