Democrats want a government-controlled healthcare system like most other countries have. This episode of What’s Ahead points out that not having succeeded through a direct approach, Democrats are now trying to achieve their goal covertly by sharply expanding the number of people on Medicaid and enrolled in the Obamacare insurance exchanges, thereby killing most of the private insurance market.
Republicans can and must reverse this surreptitious government takeover. Europe and other places have demonstrated that government domination of medicine kills innovation. Instead, the GOP should push reforms that put patients, not bureaucrats, in charge of healthcare dollars.
