Few models have a personal style that has been emulated more than British supermodel Kate Moss. Now players of Drest, the world’s first interactive luxury styling game created by Lucy Yeomans, will have a chance to style Moss’s avatar using millions of dollars of diamonds—at least in the metaverse. Moss joins other supermodel avatars such as Natalia Vodianova, Doutzen Kroes, Imaan Hammam, Irina Shayk and luxury brand partners Prada, Stella McCartney, Burberry, Valentino, Gucci, Chanel, among others who have taken the plunge to peddle and promote their brands virtually.
As of Monday, Moss became the first guest avatar for a limited two-week run. Specific to Moss’s tenure, her avatar will have access to Messika Paris’ high jewelry collaboration with Moss along with other designer clothing looks the model is known for. Furthermore, the stylists who use at least one piece of the Kate Moss x Messika jewelry will have a chance to win a piece of real jewelry from the Place Vendôme jewelry house.
The jewelry awarded will be chosen by Valerie Messika, the brand’s founder and creative director, while Moss will select the winning styling entry from the brand’s highly successful Move collection worth approximately $3,500.00.
Messika is pioneering the Metaverse space as a Place Vendôme jeweler. Believably recreating the jewels has shown promise in this new arena blending real and virtual worlds. “Seeing the life-like quality of the jewels crafted in our atelier proves that Messika will be able to continue to push forward with new opportunities as this kind of technology continues to advance and prove more pertinent. It’s also an interesting way to create user-generated content in a completely new ecosystem and target new audiences,” said Valerie Messika via email.
It’s also a chance to lure potential new clients. “This collaboration with Drest offers unique access to a new audience while offering the chance to interact with the jewels. One of the principles imposed at Messika is that jewelry is deeply personal. This access allows one to style the jewels through their unique vision and tastes,” she continued.
Indeed, Moss’s vision was channeled into pieces appearing in the digital game. “Kate and I selected some of the most exceptional creations from our collaboration keeping in mind her jewelry preferences such as headpieces, ear cuffs, arm bracelets, etc. For example, she is drawn more to yellow gold and green,” Messika noted, referencing the malachite pieces.
Moss found the creative process equally satisfying akin to creating high jewelry. “The pieces Valérie Messika and I created work well in the game because of the many styling options. Drest will bring the collection to a whole new audience, and I’m excited to see how the players will style me over the next two weeks. My tip? You can never wear too many diamonds!” said Kate Moss in a release.
Messika couldn’t agree more. “I think diamonds are a perfect final touch to any outfit and any occasion as they add a luminous effect. Everyone shines a bit brighter with diamonds.”
