Hollywood’s longtime “it girl” Kate Hudson is taking her INBLOOM holistic products from its popular online sales route and widening its reach with Bluestone Lane at its 55 storefront locations across the United States.
As the founder of INBLOOM, Hudson and her team are breaking away from their direct-to-consumer roots since launching in 2020 and making their products even more accessible in a brick-and-mortar setting with the Australian-inspired coffee, cafe, and lifestyle brand.
“It’s fun to have it on-site somewhere,” Hudson tells me at Forbes about bringing INBLOOM to Bluestone Lane. “This is our first collaboration with a company like this. We’re super excited – it’s great!”
Hudson prides herself on her nutritional powders being 100% plant based, with no synthetic ingredients. When speaking about how this new business route ultimately came about for INBLOOM, Hudson says, “That has always been our plan. These are things that we were always looking forward to be able to do and kind of create a product that people will want and they will want for multiple reasons – that’s the whole point of it. Getting it out, getting all the healthy stuff out to as many people as we can. These kinds of collaborations are great and it’s nice to be able to provide a really good product to someone like Bluestone Lane, who I don’t know if you’re a fan – I love them!”
Bluestone Lane founder Nick Stone also spoke with Forbes about this new collaboration that comes primarily in the form of a new smoothie menu. “We have three smoothies. There’s a Berry Brekkie, Peanut Butter and Blueberry, and we also have the Keen Greens. The Peanut Butter and Blueberry is a high-protein, low-carb smoothie and that will come packed with INBLOOM powder. You’ve got the nutritional boosters – the immunity boost from INBLOOM and you also have the beauty aura, which is collagen-based. In addition, we will be selling INBLOOM from our own website. I think it’s a fantastic way to facilitate the brand awareness of INBLOOM.”
So what is it about Hudson that made Stone and his Bluestone Lane team feel like this new partnership with INBLOOM was a right fit? “She radiates positive energy and she’s so unpretentious,” Stone says about Hudson. “I think she’s trusted because she’s so authentic. She’s a great role model and person and really dependable and stable and someone people can relate to. It just makes so much sense to us.”
Hudson is no stranger to making important business decisions, whether that be with her many Hollywood projects or the many growing brands she has created over recent years. Hudson tells me that her greatest hope for the things she is putting out there these days is to support people and make them feel good about themselves, both inside and out.
“I was thinking about this the other day, people always ask What do you love about being an entrepreneur? I don’t like the title thing. I feel just like a creative. INBLOOM, this business has been so fun because we get to get into the science of plants and then formulating these products that really enhance your life and actually have real results that you can feel and see. It has been such a wonderful experience and a real learning experience, too.”
Hudson goes on to say, “When I started thinking about doing businesses, it was really because I’m terrible at selling, meaning when someone would ask me to endorse a product, unless I love it and it’s really authentic, I don’t like lying to people. The hardest thing in my job, making movies, is having to sell movies that didn’t turn out the way I wish they would have and it doesn’t feel good! So for me, when I started realizing that people were coming to me to endorse their product, my concept was like I’d rather take the long game and build something I’m passionate about that I can really speak to. It started with Fabletics and now with INBLOOM, [King St.] Vodka – love it! All of these are things that I love.”
Coming from such a well-known Hollywood family, including her beloved mother Goldie Hawn, Hudson jokes about the delayed reactions she has received about her INBLOOM creations. “You know, it’s funny. I’ve been doing this for a year and the other day, my mom came over and she’s like It’s really good! I’m like, Mom, it’s been a year (laughs)!”
Being a mother of three kids herself, I wondered how Hudson’s family priorities have shaped her business decisions with the lifestyle brands she continues to lead today.
“I mean, that’s everything, isn’t it? At the end of the day, none of this matters when we’re lying on our death bed. It’s going to be about the relationships that you nurture and the love that you either have surrounding you or that you have in you that you can leave to your children. I mean, that’s it! I feel that way with my mother right now. I want to spend every possible moment with my mother that I can. I will never take for granted the beautiful life that I have. I feel very blessed and that means that for my family, that I really want to truly strive to not only be around as long as I can, but to instill the best possible tools that can really allow my children to have a good life and what I mean by a good life is I mean a happy one.”
