Justin Bieber’s Facial Paralysis Improves Amid Ramsay Hunt Syndrome Diagnosis

Topline

Singer Justin Bieber took to Instagram to show off the progress he’s made in his recovery from the partial facial paralysis he suffered after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome last year.

Key Facts

In a video shared Wednesday on his Instagram stories, Bieber posted “WAIT FOR IT…” and then flashed a full smile.

In June, Bieber, 29, posted a video announcing he had Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which caused paralysis on one side of his face.

“I can’t smile on this side of my face,” he said at the time, showing off his incapability.

Key Background

Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is a rare reaction to a virus. Amid his health struggles, Bieber postponed his Justice World Tour several times. “I need to make my health a priority right now,” he said, saying he needed “time to rest and get better.” The remaining tour dates were ultimately canceled in February. Last week, Bieber performed at the Rolling Loud Music Festival alongside Don Toliver.

Big Number

Over $200 million. That’s how much Bieber reportedly sold his song catalog for in January to Hipgnosis Songs Capital. The deal included 100% of the publishing rights, masters recordings and neighboring rights of the 290 songs he released before December 31, 2021.
