Just For Laughs Montréal has announced its list of comedians for the annual New Faces of Comedy list. Deadline reports that the 2022 list includes 62 up-and-coming comedians who have been selected to perform in the JFL showcases starting this month.
The New Faces showcase has been a fixture in the comedy industry since its inception in 1994. Many comedians have participated, including Kevin Hart, Mike Birbiglia, Amy Schumer, Jo Koy, Pete Holmes, Kumail Nanjiani, Colin Jost, DeAnne Smith and Taylor Tomlinson.
This year Just For Laughs Montreal is turning 40. The festival is set to end on July 31. The showcases this year will happen over multiple events. The first event, New Faces of Comedy, is set for two shows on July 27 at 7 and 9 pm. This show will feature Ali Kolbert, Ali Macofsky, Andrew Orolfo, Brandi Denise, Brian Bahe, Emil Wakim, Ethan Simmons-Patterson, Ever Mainard, Fabrizio Copano, Gianmarco Soresi, Hannah Berner, Jared Goldstein, Lara Beitz, Laura Peek, Marcello Hernandez, Michael Rowland, Pat Regan, Pink Foxx, Sabrina Wu and Skyler Higley.
The next show, New Faces: Creators, looks at comedy from online stars. The show is set for July 28 at 1:30 pm. The unique show will feature performances from Adrian Bliss, Alexia Dox, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, Jordan Mendoza, Joshua Neal and Mary Elizabeth Kelly.
New Faces: Characters is set for July 28 at 7 pm. This show will feature comedy character presentations from Allison Reese, Andrew Farmer, Ceara Jane O’Sullivan, Inessa Frantowski, Jordan Stafford, Lisa Gilroy, Luke Millington-Drake, Nick Mestad and Shaan Baig.
New Faces: Unrepped is also set for July 28 at 9:30 pm. The show will feature comedy from Adam Gilbert, Benny Feldman, Brendan Sagalow, Caitlin Peluffo, Dauood Mohammad Naimyar, Kalea McNeill, KC Shornima, Orion Levine and Victoria Vincent.
New Faces: International is set for July 29 at 7 pm and will feature comedy from Anirban Dasgupta, Blake Freeman, Catherine Bohart, Geraldine Hickey, Jason Leong, Michelle Brasier, Rhys James, Sophie Duker, Suzi Ruffell and Wary Nichen.
Finally, New Faces Canada is set for July 29 at 9:30. The show will feature all Canadian comedy talents, including Ajahnis Charley, Allie Pearse, Ben Sosa Wright, Clare Belford, Conner Christmas, Laura Leibow, Malik Elassal, Mike Greenl, Wassim El-Mounzer and Bree Parsons.
All showcases will be available as part of JFL’s ComedyPRO industry conference or in OFF-JFL with New Faces of Comedy Encore shows.
