Key Facts
Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was indicted in the case and charged with obstruction and concealing an individual to prevent arrest.
Dugan faces up to a six-year prison sentence and up to $350,000 in fines if she is convicted on both counts.
Dugan is expected to appear in court Thursday and has indicated she will fight the charges, according to The New York Times.
Dugan has been specifically accused of escorting Eduardo Flores-Ruiz and his attorney through a jury door in April after she became aware that immigration authorities were in the courthouse to arrest Flores-Ruiz.

Who Is Eduardo Flores-Ruiz?
Flores-Ruiz, an immigrant from Mexico who was in state court after being charged with three counts of misdemeanor domestic abuse in March, illegally returned to the U.S. after his deportation in 2013, the AP reported, citing court documents. Flores-Ruiz was free on a signature bond and arrested by federal agents outside the courthouse on April 18.
Key Background
Dugan was arrested by FBI agents on April 25 and released on an undisclosed bond. The judge has denied the allegations against her, which come as the Trump administration cracks down on illegal immigration and has threatened state and local officials who “threaten to impede” its immigration agenda. Democrats have blasted the Trump administration for the arrest of Dugan, with Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Del., accusing it of “relentlessly attacking the judicial system to stifle opposition and get their way.” Judges and former officials from the Milwaukee County Courthouse, where Dugan works, have scrutinized whether immigration authorities presented the correct warrant when attempting to arrest Flores-Ruiz, though it is unclear if this will be a point of contention raised by Dugan in her case.
