Jung Kook Was The King Of Summer 2023 Globally

Even before it was released, Jung Kook’s single “Seven” was bound to do incredible things. Now, it has been named the top song of the summer when looking globally, as fans all around the world couldn’t stop streaming the catchy pop cut.

Billboard has officially declared Jung Kook and Latto’s collaborative smash “Seven” as the song of the summer. The music magazine and chart company listed the 10 biggest hits globally of the season, and the BTS singer and the rapper come out on top. No specific figures were released alongside the ranking that explain how the decision was made, but a definitive order was shared.

“Seven” was released on July 14, and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, the company’s weekly ranking of the most-consumed songs in the world, on the chart dated July 29. Since then, the cut hasn’t fallen from the top spot, refusing to let any other hit take a turn on the throne. Jung Kook’s smash has already racked up a very appropriate seven weeks at No. 1 on the ranking, and it may add to that total in the coming frames.

Jung Kook and Latto beat out some very tough competition, with artists from different genres and parts of the world all landing on the top 10 list. Miley Cyrus comes in second place with her smash “Flowers,” which was a major player on the Billboard Global 200 throughout the early months of 2023. Fellow American pop star Taylor Swift lands in third with her aptly-named “Cruel Summer.”

“Seven” was a giant from the moment it arrived, and its popularity has barely waned from its debut on the Billboard Global 200. Most weeks, it has remained atop the tally thanks to more than 100 million streams. It also sold incredibly well when it first dropped, though sales have since fallen off as a major reason why it has remained at No. 1 on the tally.

Jung Kook and Latto now claim one of the longest-running No. 1 hits in the years-long history of the Billboard Global 200. With seven weeks atop the tally, their smash ranks as the sixth-longest run in first place. It recently broke out of a tie with hits from the likes of Adele, Olivia Rodrigo, and Glass Animals, which all held on for half a dozen turns. If “Seven” controls the list for one more frame, it will match another Rodrigo hit and claim one of the longest reigns ever.
